Accuracy and inaccuracy in perception

I just completed Unit 4 and I can tell you my favorite piece on this chapter was the part on accuracy and inaccuracy in perception. Coming from a commercial art background many moons ago, we were shown how to make a 2 dimensional object and turn it into a 3 dimensional one. It's amazing how our minds can look at an object and simply changing or adding something to an object how our perceptions change. I posted an example below for your opinion. Keep in mind, it was done in 60 seconds so its not the best piece of work, but it shows an example of perception. What do you think?

The never-ending debate of nature vs nurture

This weeks assignment was enlightening. It made me take a deeper look into the nature vs nurture theory and solidified that although nature can play a big role in how we grow into the people we become from adolescence, the nurture part of this debate is very influential. Without any nurture, we would not learn a good set of morals or a skill-set that we can use throughout the rest of our lives. My journey through Psychology continues....

Superbowl Sunday random thoughts of Psychology

So, I finally finished all the assignments we had to do for this week. I honestly have to say I am looking forward to reading more about Psychology.

Chapter 1 was very interesting. I only thought there were a couple of different fields of study when it came to Psychology. Boy was I wrong. some of the connections I have been really looking at the various fields of study and trying to understand how they are a part of our daily lives.

Also, with writing the paper on the 3 experiments really put some of my perceptions to the test. Trying to separate the emotional side of the subjects vs the science and results of the experiment was a bit difficult for me. From the children to how the adults were treated in the Milgram Experiment really put things into prospective for me.

I am looking forward to the next chapter to see what is in store.
